Choral Ensembles

Concert Choir
The concert choir is chosen by audition and serves as an outreach group for the college, singing concerts on campus, in local churches, and an out-of-state tour each spring. This group travels abroad once every three years. Vocal technique and sight-reading are stressed through the performance of repertoire that includes accompanied and a cappella music of all periods, styles, and various cultures. This group travels abroad once every three to four years.

Highland Singers (Chamber Choir)
The Highland Singers serve the college, churches, and schools by making three mini-tours each year and provide the opportunity for participation in a smaller vocal ensemble. This group performs both traditional chamber choir repertoire from all historical periods and styles and also performs a wide variety of contemporary styles.

Sterling Lasses (Women’s Choir)
Membership is open to any female who wishes to sing (audition necessary for placement purposes). Vocal technique is developed through the repertoire that includes accompanied and a cappella music of all periods and styles.

This choir serves the community on and off campus by singing for senior adults, chapel services, local churches, and on portions of department concerts. Requires two fifty-minute rehearsals per week. Sterling Men’s Choir
The Glee Club/Men’s Choir serves the community on and off campus by singing for senior adults, chapel services, local churches, and on portions of department concerts. The ensemble performs traditional music as well as jazz, barbershop, and other contemporary styles typical of men’s choirs.
