Campus Beautification

Flower beds by the Student UnionWe currently estimate that our annual expenses will be around $60,000 to maintain the new current areas (photos and descriptions) and to complete our next section in the fall of 2005. This next area of improvement will be south from Cooper Hall down to Campbell Hall. It will include the Plaza area in front of the library.

If you would like to help beautify the Sterling campus, we would love to have your support. Our only request is that any financial support you give to this project be “over and above” what you now give to the College. Sterling needs all the support it is currently receiving for its Annual Fund (in fact, much more). We are looking for those people who have a passion for beautiful landscaping and manicured grounds to be involved in this project.

Please review the photos, work plans and see if you might be led to join in this very important project for Sterling College. If you decide to send a gift for the Campus Beautification Project, make your check out to “Sterling College” and write “campus beautification” in the memo line. We need gifts of all sizes to bring the look that you see in the photos to the entire campus! You can also give online using your credit or debit card.

After the renovation of Cooper Hall, the College began a systematic “Campus Beautification Plan” moving from the north end of campus to the south. Currently, most of the grounds around McCreery Hall, Cooper Hall and the Student Union have had underground sprinkling systems installed, grass planted and maintained and shrubbery and other plantings completed.

We want to continue to move south across the campus. Each fall we would like to plant and beautify another portion of the grounds. However, we also need to properly maintain the areas already landscaped. To take on this very special look we need more student workers on the grounds and some adult supervision to plan and oversee the development and maintenance of the campus.
