President Obama encouraged colleges and universities to work on keeping costs down in the 2013 State of the Union address, but it didn’t take presidential advice to convince the Sterling College Board of Trustees to do what they can to help keep Sterling College affordable.
The Board of Trustees has announced that Executive Vice President Scott Rich has been named Interim President, effective December 1, 2012. Rich has been serving as acting president managing the operations of the college and leading the College’s cabinet since May.
The Sterling College Board of Trustees has elected alumna Heather McCreery ’90 to serve as the new Chair of the Board. Tim O’Brien was also elected to continue his service as Vice Chair.
Sterling College has elected Pam Irwin Head as a member of its Board of Trustees. Head will begin her service with the spring board meeting held during the College’s commencement weekend May 12-13. Head, of Wichita, Kan., has most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Blood Services from 2000-2009.
Sterling College has elected alumnus Matthew Jaeger ’00 to the Board of Trustees during the spring meeting.

Sterling College has elected Jim Turner ’62 of Topeka, Kan., as a member of its Board of Trustees during the winter board meeting held on Feb. 7-8.
