Offense wins games. Defense wins championships. On Monday night at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan., defense won a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship for the Sterling College Lady Warriors.
Sterling, Kan. – Sterling College Women’s Basketball Coach Kruse has been named the 2011 Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) Four Year College Women’s Coach of the Year. Kruse will be honored in front of the KBCA reception on August 4th at Washburn University during the KBCA All-Star Game Festivities.
Kansas City, Kan. - Sterling College's Britany Gasper has been named to the 2011 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-America Second Team for the first time. The NAIA announced the All-America Teams this afternoon on the NAIA website. Gasper finished her playing career for Sterling this season.
Wichita, Kan. - Women's Basketball at Sterling College is primed to have another championship season according to the KCAC Women's Basketball Head Coaches and the media that covers the KCAC. At KCAC Basketball Media Day in Wichita, Kansas, Head Coach Lonnie Kruse's women's basketball team was selected to finish first in the KCAC by both the KCAC Head Coaches and the media.
Kansas City, Mo. - The Sterling College Women's Basketball Team will start the 2010-2011 season ranked in the top 10 of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Sterling will begin the season ranked tenth after finishing 14th in the 2009-2010 Final NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
York, Neb. - The Sterling College Lady Warriors traveled to York, Nebraska to play the York College Panthers on Saturday, November 6th. In their first game of the 2010-2011 Women's Basketball season, the Lady Warriors defeated the Panthers 69-57 in a game that was not as close as the final score.
Sterling, Kan. - Megan and Laura Patrick combined for 46 points as the Sterling College Lady Warriors dominated Doane College on Monday night in the Gleason Center. Sterling used a 31 for 57 night from the floor along with holding Doane to 15 of 53 from the floor to earn an impressive 84-43 home opening victory.
Concordia, Neb. - The Sterling College Women's Basketball Team dropped a close game to Concordia University in Concordia, Nebraska on Friday night. In a game that was back and forth, Concordia came out on top 65-59 to give the Sterling Women their first loss of the 2010-11 season.
Sterling, Kan. - In their first game of the 2010 Warrior Classic, the Sterling College Women's Basketball team beat Southwestern Assemblies of God University by a score of 69-56. The Lady Warriors used hot shooting from behind the three point arc to bury SAGU. Sterling was 7/15 from behind the arc for 21 points.
