Evans Hall Staff

Naiya Hernandez--Evans Hall Resident Director

Years worked at SC: Three years

Hometown: Denver, CO

College attended and degree earned: Sterling College-- Christian Ministry, Emphasis in Missions

Best residence life memory from my college days: Sterling is such a great place to take in the outdoors. I remember playing in puddles on rainy days, going for walks around the lake, and stargazing on beautiful summer nights. Spare time was often spent outside seeking opportunities to laugh and enjoy the company of our classmates and peers. Never again will my best friends all live in the same building...or the bunk above me!

Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Waking up without an alarm, a cup of coffee, and some devotional time. By afternoon I like to be outside on a warm day and go for a run or a bike ride, spending time on campus and enjoying all that campus life has to offer in this small but loving community.

Best thing about my job: I love the relationship I get to develop with the females on campus. Whether it's taking a meal together, getting coffee, or going for a walk or bike ride, it is a true privilege to be in ministry and community here at SC.

What the residents in my hall can expect: Evans ladies can expect an opportunity to know their peers in an environment that seeks to foster a Christian community. We desire and seek to grow spiritually and emotionally and to be healthy members of this lively, pulsating dorm!

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall?  I love all the friendships I've made.  It is a very diverse dorm so you get to know a lot of different girls that you probably wouldn't if htey weren't on your hall.

What you're all about: I'm all about doing me.  This would include: loving the Lord, loving others, being crazy, and having fun.  My love languages include back rubs and food.

Hayley Ray--Resident Assistant

Favorite class: Cultural Diversity in Education with Professor Wagley

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall? I love the opportunities to get to know people at really random times.  The best conversations I have had with others have been while brushing my teeth or microwaving some macaroni.  There are some really awesome girls in this hall and it's fun to get to know them through little conversations.

What you're all about: I'm all about family.  Surrounding ourselves with those who love you is important as we go through this crazy thing called life.  I'm all about faith.  I realize I am a sinner and need Jesus daily!  I'm learning what it means to trust in Him and follow Him daily.  I'm also all about food.  Who doesn't love a good cheeseburger?!

Brenna Swisher--Resident Assistant

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall? We have a positive environment here.  It's great to get to know everyone on your hall better as the year goes on.  There are lots of friendly faces!

What you're all about: Ultimately I want to live to glorify God with everything I do.  Going to school, loving on people, and building relationships are blessings that the Lord has provided for me on the way.  Also, I just really love horses.
