Evans Hall Staff

Naiya Hernandez--Evans Hall Resident Director

Years worked at SC: Two years

Hometown: Denver, CO

College attended and degree earned: Sterling College-- Christian Ministry, Emphasis in Missions

Best residence life memory from my college days: Sterling is such a great place to take in the outdoors. I remember playing in puddles on rainy days, going for walks around the lake, and stargazing on beautiful summer nights. Spare time was often spent outside seeking opportunities to laugh and enjoy the company of our classmates and peers. Never again will my best friends all live in the same building...or the bunk above me!

Favorite way to spend a Saturday: Waking up without an alarm, a cup of coffee, and some devotional time. By afternoon I like to be outside on a warm day and go for a run or a bike ride, spending time on campus and enjoying all that campus life has to offer in this small but loving community.

Best thing about my job: I love the relationship I get to develop with the females on campus. Whether it's taking a meal together, getting coffee, or going for a walk or bike ride, it is a true privilege to be in ministry and community here at SC.

What the residents in my hall can expect: Evans ladies can expect an opportunity to know their peers in an environment that seeks to foster a Christian community. We desire and seek to grow spiritually and emotionally and to be healthy members of this lively, pulsating dorm!

Kimberly Garrett--Resident Assistant

Favorite class: My favorite class so far would have to be Social Psychology with Professor Vessey, who is also my favorite instructor!

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall?  The thing I love most about Evans would have to be the spacious rooms!

What you're all about: I'm a pretty outgoing person who loves to talk and listen to people!  I might seem a bit crazy at times, but I promise I'm not that crazy! I participate in track and field; I am a sprinter and hurdler!

Aundraya Garcia--Resident Assistant

Year: Senior

Major: Christian Ministries (missions)

Hometown: Hutchinson, KS

Favorite class: Doctrine of the Holy Spirit with Dr. Hank

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall? The best thing I love about Evans Hall is the diversity of girls.  Evans has athletes from a variety of sports, non-athletes, loud and crazy girls, quiet and reserved girls, girls that have been following Christ for years, and those that are just discovering who He is.  They each come from different backgrounds and walks of life.  It is so fun to learn and grow from one another.

What you're all about: I'm all about allowing God to use me in order to bring Him glory...oh, and cereal.  I'm all about cereal.

Brianna Clayton--Resident Assistant

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Olathe, KS

Favorite class: Gender & Ethnic Issues in Ministry with Christian Dashiell

What is the thing you love most about living in your residence hall? The best thing about living in my residence hall would be the people and community there.

What you're all about: I'm all about trying to live my life for God even though I fail Him daily.  I thoroughly enjoy spending time with people and having movie nights in my dorm.  I have a cat named Loverboy back home that I love very dearly.  I love singing and playing my guitar.  I'm also very excited to get to know the girls on my hall.  I look forward to what God has planned for all of Sterling College in the upcoming school year!
