STERLING, Kan. – Head Football Coach Andy Lambert announced today that the Warriors have hired Chase Hansen as an assistant football coach and Co-Offensive Coordinator. Hansen will begin his new duties immediately.
Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference announced this afternoon that Sterling safety Brock Frank was named the KCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Frank earned Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance during the Warriors 35 to 10 victory over Bethel College. The 6-0, 175 pound senior returned two punts for 94 yards. Frank's longest return was for 81 yards and a touchdown. The victory over Bethel puts the Warriors at 4 and 1 in the KCAC, 4 and 3 overall.
Salina, Kan. – A 46 yard field goal by Kansas Wesleyan’s Terry Stecker as time expired gave the Coyotes a 24-21 victory over the Sterling College Warriors on Saturday night in Salina. KWU was able to put up 458 yards of total offense on the Sterling defense while keeping Sterling to 250 yards of offense. Sterling had quite a few miscues, giving up 127 yards on 13 penalties while turning over the ball over once.
Sterling, Kan. – Special Teams played a major role in Sterling College’s 24-8 victory over Tabor College on Saturday night at Smisor Stadium in Sterling, Kansas. The Warriors generated 10 points directly from the Special Teams. Mike Talton scored the first touchdown of the game on a 54 yard punt return and Doug Dunn put in a field goal on a possession gained in the red zone by a blocked punt. The victory improved SC’s record to 1-2, 1-0 in the KCAC.
