“Godspell” opens on Thursday | October 16, 2012

Under direction from Assistant Professor Matthew Winning, this year’s Homecoming musical, “Godspell,” will open Thursday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The family-friendly show will run through Saturday, Oct. 20.

SC Alumni to honor Klings at special performance | October 11, 2012

On Sunday, Oct. 21, Sterling College Alumni will host a special tribute to Faculty Emeriti Diane DeFranco-Kling and Gordon Kling in Culbertson Auditorium. The variety show will begin at 2 p.m. and is open to the public. The performance will last approximately two hours, followed by a come-and-go reception in Cornerstone in the Student Union.

Alumni College to be held on Oct. 19 | October 10, 2012

The first Alumni College will be part of this year’s 125th anniversary activities during the Homecoming weekend. Alumni and friends of the College who want to relive the past can choose from a list of topics that they would like to learn about on Friday, Oct. 19.

Ted Weis to Teach at KU Osher Institute | October 10, 2012

Ted Weis, adjunct professor at Sterling College, will teach a series of three classes through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute hosted by KU on Oct. 12, 19 and 26. Weis’ class, “Lost Treasures of the Bible: Discovering Ancient Artifacts,” will take place from 2-4 p.m. at Hutchinson Community College.

Homecoming activities will begin on Thursday, Oct. 18, with the annual opening night of the Homecoming musical, “Godspell,” at 8 p.m. Special Homecoming activities, in addition to the beloved traditions, have been scheduled this year as part of the 125th anniversary celebration.

Debate Team dominates competition | October 4, 2012

For the fifth consecutive year, Sterling College won the Debates on a Plain Invitational. The team also won the Parliamentary Debate portion of the tournament while simultaneously taking first and second in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Peter Ochs, entrepreneur and president at Capital III, Inc., will speak at the 2012 Oscar Schmidt convocation held in Culbertson Auditorium on the campus of Sterling College. After his speech, titled “Enterprise Stewardship: How to Live a High Impact Life,” Ochs will answer questions from the audience. The public event will take place on Friday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m.
