2013 Football All-Conference Awards Announced | January 14, 2014

The KCAC announced on Tuesday, November 19 the 2013 KCAC Football All-Conference Teams and Individual Award Winners. Coming off their historic 2013 season, the Warrior Football team has a clean sweep of the coaching staff of the year, one KCAC special team player of the year, and 17 players winning individual team awards.

Sterling College professor completes Ph.D. in Education | January 14, 2014

Sterling College hosts Robert Burns Night | January 7, 2014

Sterling College is welcoming back new and old acquaintances on Saturday, Jan. 25, for Robert Burns Night. Recognizing the achievements of Robert Burns, Scottish poet and songwriter, this event will be one of many similar events held around the world on Jan. 25 to celebrate Burns’s birthday. Tickets for the event, which includes a traditional Scottish meal, are available to the public for $18.

Coach Kruse to retire at the end of the season | December 16, 2013

Sterling's Women Basketball Head Coach Lonnie Kruse has announced that the 2013-2014 season will be his final season and he will retire from his position as the Head Coach of the Lady Warrior program. Kruse will retire as Sterling College's All-Time Wins Leader in Women's Basketball history and also the All-Time Wins Leader in College Women's Basketball in the state of Kansas. Education candidates take MTSS field trip | December 10, 2013

On Dec. 3, Sterling College teacher candidates in the elementary methods class took a field trip to West Elementary School in Valley Center, Kan., in order to learn more about the Multi-Tier System of Supports intervention program, or MTSS. This program is designed to support and respond to the behavioral and academic needs of each student in order to meet the standards set forth by the state of Kansas.

Ashley Hasart to perform senior vocal recital | December 4, 2013

Sterling College senior Ashley Hasart will be performing her senior vocal recital on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Sterling United Presbyterian Church. The public is invited to attend the recital which will last for approximately one hour.

Criminal Justice Becomes Sterling College’s 23rd major | December 4, 2013

Sterling College officially announced that it will begin offering students a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice starting fall 2014, with concentrations in law enforcement and pre-law. In addition to over 15 new criminal justice courses, the curriculum draws from psychology, government, ethics, and a variety of law courses that are already part of Sterling College programs.

Kruse wins 700 against Haskell | November 26, 2013

The Women's Basketball team played their final game of the Lady Warrior Classic and took on the Haskell Indian Nation University Indians. The Lady Warriors were able to pull out a victory thanks with key free throws late in the game and secure the 62-58 win and also the 700th victory for Head Coach Lonnie Kruse.

Nua, Smith named SC Teachers of Promise | November 25, 2013

Seniors Erica Nua, of Palmdale, Calif., and Jessica Smith, of Lindsborg, Kan., have been named as the fall Sterling College Teachers of Promise. Two Teachers of Promise are selected each semester from a pool of candidates who will be clinical teaching the following semester and are recognized by Sterling College and the Kansas State Department of Education.

Health science major underway at Sterling College | November 25, 2013

The need for physical therapists continues to grow, and Sterling College is working to prepare students to meet that demand by opening a new major this fall – health science. Starting in August, students at the College began classes for health science: pre-physical therapy, preparing them for graduate physical therapy programs.
