New faculty announced for 2012-2013 | August 15, 2012

Several new faculty members are joining the College this year.

Dr. David Briones will be teaching in the theology and ministry department. He earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Biblical Languages from Life Pacific College and his M.Div. in Pastoral and General Ministries from the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. 

Talmon Bell Chair of Mathematics Hired | August 14, 2012

Dr. Adebukola Gbade-Oyelakin has been named to the Talmon Bell Chair of Mathematics at Sterling College.

Debate coaches next generation | August 8, 2012

Director of Debate and Forensics Ken Troyer believes in giving back, and he is teaching his students to do the same. This summer, Troyer and his debate team member, Nolan Chaney of South Hutchinson, Kan., had the opportunity to serve together at the Heart of America Debate Institute.

Watney selected for seminar on Greek drama | August 2, 2012

Assistant Professor of Language and Literature Mark Watney spent much of his summer reading and studying classical Greek plays as he prepared to attend a Harvard-sponsored seminar on Song Culture of Athenian Drama.

Women's Soccer returns from mission trip in Alaska | August 1, 2012

Members of the Women's Soccer team recently returned from Anchorage, Alaska, where they spent six days working with the Mountain View Boys and Girls Club and in local parks hosting soccer clinics for kids. The team left on July 22 and returned July 29.

Tom Borrego was hired to fill the director of planned giving vacancy. Borrego began working for Sterling on July 9.

Sterling College welcomes community college graduates | July 13, 2012

Sterling College has signed 19 new partnership agreements, known as the Guaranteed Admission Advantage, over the past year. These partnership agreements have been formed with 18 Kansas community colleges and with Hesston College. Dr. Gregory Kerr, vice president of academic affairs, crafted the agreement to give transfer students a seamless transition to Sterling College and Sterling College Online.
