Alumna named SC Psychology Professor | April 18, 2013

Dr. Jennifer Dyson ’02 of Romeoville, Ill., will return to her alma mater as assistant professor of psychology for the fall 2013 semester. Dyson graduated from Sterling College with a B.A. in Behavioral Science. She received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Emporia State University, and her M.A. in General Theology and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College.

Education majors visit Valley Center USD 262 | April 18, 2013

Elementary education majors and professors recently traveled to West Elementary school in Valley Center USD 262 to learn about Multi-Tier Systems of Supports. This state-wide systematic intervention model enables schools to coordinate and provide intervention instruction to ensure students meet the academic proficiency requirements in reading and math.

Seniors to display work in senior art exhibition | April 17, 2013

Four Sterling College art and design seniors will display their final body of work at the senior art exhibition which opens with a reception on Thursday, April 25, from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit titled “Unearthed” will be on display in the Art and Media Center gallery located at the corner of 8th and Washington through May 15.

Wisdom Literature class presents “Proverbs: A Compass for Daily Living” | April 11, 2013

The book of Proverbs takes the stage in a production titled “Proverbs: A Compass for Daily Living,” on Wednesday, April 17, in Cornerstone in the Sterling College Student Union, at 7 p.m. The theatrical production, written by Dr. Henry Lederle, professor of theology and ministry, is produced by the students enrolled in the Wisdom Literature class and directed by junior Phil Taylor of Norco, Calif.

Students engage with social media strategist | April 10, 2013

In Matt Ehresman’s Web Design class, technology was not only the foundation for the course material, but was also used as a creative teaching method. Ehresman, lecturer in communications, connected the students in his class with Sam Hoover, assistant manager of social media strategy for Focus on the Family, through Google+ Hangout, a video chat and conference service.

"Leaving Iowa" opens Friday at 8 p.m. | April 10, 2013

Senior Ryan Ehresman of Wichita, Kan., will direct “Leaving Iowa” on Friday and Saturday, April 12-13 at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium. The show, written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, is a family-friendly comedy. Admission is $5 and the box office will be open Monday-Friday from 1-5 p.m.

Ryan Ehresman, senior at Sterling College, will direct his senior show, “Leaving Iowa,” Friday and Saturday, April 12-13, in Culbertson Auditorium, at 8 p.m. The show, written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, is a family-friendly comedy. Tickets will cost $5 and the box office will open on show nights beginning at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

The Warriors Track and Field team traveled to Joplin, Mo., over their spring break to help with the continued clean up and rebuilding efforts from the 2011 tornado that killed 161 people and left a trail of destruction over 22 miles long.

Warrior Baseball No. 23 in First NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll | March 28, 2013
The Warriors were ranked No. 1 in the KCAC going into preseason.

Sterling College is ranked No. 23 in the first edition of the 2013 NAIA Baseball Coaches Poll.  The poll was released Tuesday, March 26. The Warriors, the KCAC preseason number one, were ranked 15th in the Baseball Coaches' preseason poll, released on November 13.

Sterling currently sits atop the KCAC standings at 8-0, they hold an overall record of 23-6 and are undefeated (10-0) at home this season.  The Warriors are currently riding a 16 games winning streak dating back to March 2.
