13 SC students inducted into NHS Alpha Chi | May 13, 2014

On Friday, May 2, Sterling College inducted 13 students into the college chapter of National Honor Society, Alpha Chi. An induction ceremony was held in Cornerstone on the campus of Sterling College to welcome the top 10 percent of the junior and senior class into this elite group of students.

Stineman returns to Alma Mater | May 7, 2014

Sterling College announced that Caitie Stineman ’12 came back to her Alma Mater as the executive assistant to the office of the president and the human resources specialist on Monday, May 5.

Honors class visits Voice of the Martyrs | May 7, 2014

Students in the Global Impact class, an honors class at Sterling College, traveled to Wichita and Oklahoma at the end of April to see how other groups of Christians are addressing the issues of suffering throughout the world.

Sterling College Debate finishes 14th at national tournament | May 6, 2014

Sterling College has again proven to be a national force in debate. Placing 14th in overall team sweepstakes, Senior Jacob Skala, Junior Brandon Hoesli, and Freshman Darren Kootz-Eades competed against the top debate teams across the United States at the National Forensic Association National Championship Tournament April 17-21 in Michigan.

Sterling College seniors to perform recitals | May 2, 2014

Two music majors will perform their senior recitals this week at Sterling United Presbyterian Church. Victoria Miller, a vocal performance major, will perform her recital at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6. Perry Hadduck, an applied instrumental major in classical guitar, will perform his recital at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7. Receptions will follow both recitals, and the public is invited to attend.

Students present skill in third annual SC Film Festival | April 30, 2014

The third annual Sterling College Film Festival took place Thursday, April 24, in Culbertson Auditorium. A panel of judges reviewed the submissions and presented awards to the top films in each category. The categories of student films featured were narrative, mood piece, mockumentary and twisted trailer.

On Saturday, April 26, Sterling College students, faculty, staff and community members came together to complete service projects around town for the fifth annual Love Sterling event.

Sterling PD supports criminal justice major at Sterling College | April 30, 2014

The city of Sterling and Sterling Police Department have agreed to support the Sterling College criminal justice major with the “intent to collaborate in enhancing the provision of criminal justice services to the citizens of Central Kansas.” Sterling Mayor Jonathan Zimmerman met with SC President Scott Rich on Tuesday, April 29, to make the agreement official.

SC Choral groups finish year with Masterworks Concert | April 29, 2014

The choirs of Sterling College will wrap up their year with the annual Masterworks Concert on May 4 at 3 p.m. at the Sterling United Methodist Church. The Sterling College Highland Singers, Chorale and Concert Choir will hold a free concert that will last approximately an hour.

Directing class presents one act plays | April 28, 2014

The Sterling College theatre department usually concludes their theatre season with a night of one acts presented by the directing class, but this year, due to more students participating in the theatre class, they will conclude with two evenings of one act plays on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium.
