SC to host PBL Fall State Leadership Conference | May 1, 2013

Scott Rich accepts Sterling College presidency | May 1, 2013

The Sterling College Board of Trustees announces that Mr. Scott Rich has accepted the presidency of Sterling College. Rich will become Sterling’s twelfth president effective May 1, 2013.

“The Board and I are very excited that Scott has agreed to serve the college in this capacity. His strength of character, vast understanding of finance and operations, and a strong desire for excellence make him the ideal president for Sterling College, ”Chairman of the Board Heather McCreery said.

Dr. Richard Goertzen to speak at Commencement | May 1, 2013

Dr. Richard Goertzen, senior pastor at Grace Bible Church in Hutchinson, Kan., will be the speaker for the 2013 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 18, at 9:45 a.m. on Cooper Lawn on the Sterling College campus. The event is open to the public.

Baseball reaches 40 wins in back to back seasons | April 29, 2013

With a 6-1 win over McPherson College on Friday night, Sterling College earned its second straight 40 win baseball season under the tutelage of Head Coach Adrian Dinkel. The Warriors jumped up on McPherson 2-0 in the first inning and never looked back on the way to maintain their hold of the top spot in the KCAC standings. Students participate in BioBlitz at Quivira | April 25, 2013

Seven Sterling College students participated alongside Dr. Jonathan Conard, assistant professor of biology, in this year’s BioBlitz, an annual event held at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, on April 19-20.

4th Annual Love Sterling to be April 27 | April 24, 2013

Volunteers will paint, rake, sweep and clean around town this Saturday, April 27, for the fourth annual Love Sterling event. In 2012, the event included approximately 250 volunteers, who dedicated 1,100 hours of service to complete 25 projects.

Love Sterling began in 2010 as a way for the students, faculty and staff of Sterling College to give back to the community.

Mandy Lee to perform senior recital | April 24, 2013

Mandy Lee, senior at Sterling College, will perform her senior recital in Upper Wilson on the Sterling College campus on Thursday, April 25. The vocal recital will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 50 minutes. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Kansas Relays Victory for Smith in the 110 Hurdles | April 23, 2013

Senior Cedrique Smith became a Kansas Relays Champion this past Saturday with a victory in the college/university/open division of the 110m hurdles. The Men's 110m Hurdle field consisted of 31 of some of the top NCAA D1 and D2, NAIA and Unattached athletes from across the country.

Alumna named SC Psychology Professor | April 18, 2013

Dr. Jennifer Dyson ’02 of Romeoville, Ill., will return to her alma mater as assistant professor of psychology for the fall 2013 semester. Dyson graduated from Sterling College with a B.A. in Behavioral Science. She received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Emporia State University, and her M.A. in General Theology and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College.

Education majors visit Valley Center USD 262 | April 18, 2013

Elementary education majors and professors recently traveled to West Elementary school in Valley Center USD 262 to learn about Multi-Tier Systems of Supports. This state-wide systematic intervention model enables schools to coordinate and provide intervention instruction to ensure students meet the academic proficiency requirements in reading and math.
