February will bring a familiar face back to the Sterling College community. Susan Sankey is returning to the College to be the new director of annual giving. She will be in charge of coordinating and leading the Sterling Fund efforts, which will include the Telefund, advancement communications, and other fundraising duties. From 1997 to 2001, Sankey was vice president of enrollment services.

WICHITA, Kan. – Adam Brown of Sterling College is the KCAC men's basketball player of the week. The 6-4 Junior Forward from Houston, Texas scored 38 points, while shooting 66.7% from the field in two KCAC games this week as the Warriors improve their conference record to 5-3.

Bateman Receives Doctor of Arts Degree | January 11, 2012

Laura Bateman, assistant professor of music at Sterling College, received her Doctor of Arts degree in voice performance from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. on December 9, 2011. She also received the Dean’s Citation of Excellence for her outstanding academic achievement and active participation in the program.

Wichita Pastor to Deliver MLK Convocation | January 11, 2012

Rev. Terrell Davis of Wichita, Kan., will be speaking at Sterling College in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. He will elaborate on Dr. King’s speech, “The Drum Major Instinct,” which emphasizes that one must fight the natural instinct to become selfish and learn to be a servant leader. The public is invited to join Sterling College on January 16, at 1:00 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium to hear Pastor Davis speak and celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Stutzman Breaks All-Time Career Three-Point Record | January 7, 2012

STERLING, Kan. – Sterling College’s Trenton Stutzman (6-0 SR Guard) broke the Warriors’ all-time career three-point record of 252 made three-point baskets on Saturday night. With his first three-point basket of the game, Stutzman passed Michael Moncrief (2000-2004) and moved into first place on the all-time career list. Stutzman ended the night with four three-point baskets in the 71-76 Warrior loss to the Bethany College Swedes, and now has a career total of 256 made three-point baskets.
