Senior art students to showcase work | April 25, 2014

Friday, May 2, marks the beginning of the Sterling College senior art exhibition titled “Variant,” which features the final work of six Sterling College seniors. Eddie Adesodun, Carley Chambers, Mackenzie McGuire, Megan Reed, Kara Stineman and Britt Westerman will hold an opening reception for the public to view their work from 5–7 p.m. in the Art and Media Center Gallery.

Sterling College Honors Convocation set for April 25 | April 25, 2014

On Friday, April 25, Sterling College will take time to recognize members of the student body for excellence in scholarship, leadership and sportsmanship. The 37th annual Honors Convocation will take place in Culbertson Auditorium and is open to the public.

Taylor Stucky and Reid Goffigon to perform junior recital | April 23, 2014

Two Sterling College juniors, Taylor Stucky and Reid Goffigon, will perform recitals at the Sterling United Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29. The public is invited to attend both free events.

Wayne Hardy '75 to speak at 2014 baccalaureate | April 23, 2014

Sterling College announced Pastor Wayne Hardy ’75 of Tulsa, Okla., as the speaker for the 2014 Baccalaureate ceremony. His speech is titled “Remember Who You Are,” based on the biblical passage Colossians 3:12-17. The ceremony will take place Friday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium on the Sterling College campus. The event is open to the public.

Three Sterling College students perform recital | April 16, 2014

Sterling College students Mark Alan Hemphill, Kayla Van Nover and Cassidy Woodard will perform a joint recital at the Sterling United Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Hemphill will perform the first movement of Haydn’s “Trumpet Concerto,” as well as some of his own compositions. Van Nover and Woodard will sing excerpts from musical theatre.

Dr. William Brown to speak at SC commencement | April 8, 2014

Dr. William Brown, chancellor of Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, will be the speaker for the 2014 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. He will be speaking about Matthew 25:14–18, and his message is titled “Slam Dunk Moments.” The ceremony will take place on May 17 at 9:45 a.m. on East Cooper Lawn on the campus of Sterling College. This event is open to the public.

SGA to host Red Cross blood drive | April 8, 2014

On Tuesday, April 15, the Sterling College Student Government Association will host their spring blood drive sponsored by American Red Cross. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked in the lot between Thompson Hall and the Student Union from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"The Great Divorce" to open April 11 | April 4, 2014

“The Great Divorce,” a play adapted from the C.S. Lewis novel, will show April 11–12 at 8 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium on the campus of Sterling College. The show will feature the final work of two seniors, director Kyle Davis of Hoisington, Kan., and costumes designer Megan Reed of Mulvane, Kan. The box office opens on show nights at 7 p.m. and doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Long-time professor, Dr. Curtis Beechan, set to retire | April 2, 2014

Dr. Curtis Beechan, professor of chemistry at Sterling College, announced his retirement at the end of the 2013-14 academic year. This May will mark the end of his 27th year of teaching at the College.
