Rice County gifted students visited Sterling College | October 30, 2013

Sterling College educational psychology students spent Monday, Oct. 28, guiding third through sixth grade Rice County gifted students through a day of activities related to “The Swiss Family Robinson,” by Johann David Wys. The gifted students were accompanied by Pam Simpson, the Rice County gifted and talented coordinator.

SC debate and forensics season opens with Debates on a Plain | October 2, 2013

Over the weekend, the Sterling College debate and forensics team successfully co-hosted and competed in the 7th annual Debates on a Plain Invitational. This tournament featured 19 colleges and universities from across the nation, including over 600 entries. 

Highland Games Dominate Orientation | September 12, 2013

Orientation is most commonly known as a time for those new to a certain community or organization (such as college) to be shown around and taught about their new home. But who would expect that education to come from pudding-eating contests, outdoor worship sessions, and so much group bonding? This year Sterling College made freshmen welcome with all of these events and many more.

The renovations done to Cornerstone in the Student Union over the summer were in hopes of bringing more student activity. That has been proven to be the
case as students have been able to utilize Cornerstone to enjoy events such as Cookie Day and Kahvista.

Campus Activities Board hosts Sterling’s Got Talent | March 14, 2013

The Sterling College Campus Activities Board hosted a talent show entitled Sterling’s Got Talent last Tuesday, Feb. 5. The show was filled with an assortment of different acts encompassing various sorts of talent, including singing, dancing and comedy. A lot of time and work went into the planning process.

“It involved a lot of people, including performers, MCs, sound personnel, and judges. So it was a lot of emailing beforehand and a lot of coordinating” said senior Anna Kolb, CAB president.

SC Online adds degree in organizational management | October 3, 2012

SC Online will launch its new degree, a B.S. in Organizational Management, on Nov. 5. This major is designed to prepare graduates for management and leadership positions in businesses and non-profit organizations and can be completed entirely online.

Sterling College’s Manely to Visit Gatorade, Speak at USA Cheer | April 5, 2012

There are two things that NAIA athletic trainers are not normally invited to do, and Pete Manely, director of athletic training at Sterling College, is doing them both in the same week.

MaSC to Host Vocal Jazz Concert | March 20, 2012

Music at Sterling College will be hosting the Hutchinson Community College’s vocal jazz ensemble, Badinage, under the direction of Neal Allsup on Tuesday, March 20. The concert will be held in Upper Wilson at 7:30 p.m., followed by a reception. This event is free and open to the public.
Badinage has performed at Carnegie Hall, the North Texas Jazz Festival, and the Northern Colorado Jazz Festival.

Jared Hamilton resigns as Head Baseball Coach at Sterling College | June 17, 2011

Sterling, Kan.– Sterling College Athletic Director Gary Kempf announced today that Head Baseball Coach, Jared Hamilton has resigned from his position. Hamilton became the Head Coach for the Warriors in 2008.
