Second Annual Composer Festival Features Joseph Martin | September 28, 2011

The Sterling College Department of Music will host its 2nd Annual Composer Festival on Monday, October 3, 2011. This year’s festival will feature guest artist Joseph Martin, who is well-known throughout the United States for his choral compositions. There will be three free events open to the public.

Two Employees Recognized for 30 Years of Service | September 28, 2011

Two employees were recognized for 30 years of service at the annual Kick-Off Banquet at Sterling College. Marge Jones diligently worked in admissions for over 25 of those years, during which she processed approximately 5,000 deposits and 25,000 applications, worked with more than 350,000 enquiries, and generated over 2,000,000 pieces of mail for Sterling College.

Physical Education and Health Assessment Training Labeled a Success | September 27, 2011

Sterling College hosted 16 area school districts along with two Sterling professors and 18 students for national assessment training for PE and Health educators. The health training took place on Wednesday, September 21, followed by the physical education training on Thursday.

Dale Levering Named As 2011 Oscar Schmidt Convocation Speaker | September 26, 2011

On Friday, October 7, Sterling College will have Dale Levering, Sterling’s Associate Professor of Business and McVay Chair of Business, as its 2011 Oscar Schmidt Convocation speaker. Sterling College Homecoming Celebrations Begin October 13 | September 26, 2011

Sterling College’s annual homecoming celebration will begin Thursday, October 13, with the homecoming musical Children of Eden starting at 8:00 p.m. Other festivities will include class reunions for the classes of ’56, ’61, ’71, ’81, ’91, ’01 and ’06, pancake breakfast, parade, Homecoming Hangout, campus tours, barbeque, crowning of homecoming royalty, football game against Bethel College, introductions into the Warrior Athletic Hall of Fame, and alumni banquet.

Former Student Donated Over $200,000 to Sterling College | September 14, 2011

More scholarships will soon be available to Sterling College students as the College announces that they are the recipient of a bequest giving scholarships to students attending Sterling College. The bequest in the amount of $210,000 comes from the estate of Ervin and Diana (Peters fs66) Gregory.

Foundation Grant Enhances Sterling College Science Department | September 12, 2011

Sterling College is strategically updating its science equipment with the help of a $55,000 grant from an anonymous foundation. The grant will allow Sterling to diversify the science laboratory experiences available for students and help transform the learning style into a more hands on approach. The equipment purchased with this donation will enable students to have increased involvement in biology and physics classes.

$1.3 Million Gift Given to Sterling College | September 7, 2011

Two alumni and long-time supporters of Sterling College, J. Lamar and Mildred Dunn have donated $1.3 million from their estate to the institution. The gift will be invested and generate annual earnings for 20 years. Following this time, Sterling’s trustees will decide how to use the unrestricted funds.

Noah Named KCAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week | September 5, 2011

Wichita, Kan. – Senior Women's Soccer player Karina Noah was named the KCAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in Sterling College's two matches over the weekend. Noah scored four goals and had one assist on the week, good enough to garner nine points and the recognition from the conference.
