Sterling College Named “A Best in the Midwest” College by the Princeton Review | August 18, 2010

When high school seniors and their parents search the Princeton Review's 2011 Best Colleges list, they will find Sterling College, Sterling, Kan., recommended as one of the "bests" in the Midwest region. These "regional bests" constitute only 25% of the nation's four-year colleges-"a select group, indeed."

Sterling College Director of Marketing Communication Karin Swihart is very excited about both the new position at the College: web marketing manager, and the person filling it: Sarah Contrucci. "Our office will be so much more productive this year," Swihart said. Sterling College Art Professor William Morse Has Three Works of Art Accepted in Juried Exhibition | August 11, 2010

There were two major requirements for art submitted to the Faith as Art: Art as Faith exhibition at Olivet Nazarene University: the artist had to follow the Christian faith and the art had to be digital. Sterling College Art Department Chair William Morse fits the first requirement, and he does quite a bit of work with digital compositions. Three of his submissions were accepted to the national juried exhibit, which runs from September 28 through October 25 in the Brandenburg Gallery at the Larsen Fine Art Center in Bourbonnais, Ill.

Dr. Gladys Ritterhouse, chair of Sterling College's Teacher Education Program (STEP), says that new professors Dr. Marielena Righettini and Assistant Professor Debra Millikan are "answers to a lot of prayer, STEP's summer miracle." She is referring to the fact that both Righettini and Millikan, though hired just this summer, are both professionally and missionally excellent fits for the College and the STEP program.

"Professor Frick brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Sterling College," said Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gregory Kerr. Sterling College has had a greater-than-usual impact on the life and history of alumnus Christian Dashiell '02. His grandparents met at the College; as did his parents; as did Dashiell and his wife, Stacy. Recently Dashiell extended that influence to the day-to-day details of his life when he accepted the position of Director of Campus Ministries at the College.

The three Welch children-Elijah, 7; Faith, 6; and Grace, 3-attended Sterling College's graduation on May 15, 2010. They weren't there to support a cousin, an older sibling or a young aunt or uncle. They were there to watch as their parents, Josh and Amanda Welch, became the first married couple to graduate through e.Sterling, the College's online division.
