GLEASON ROCKIN' AS WARRIORS MOVE INTO FIRST PLACE
Sterling, Kan.- The Gleason Center was rockin' as the Sterling College Warriors thumped the Tabor College Bluejays 86-68 in a game that moved Sterling into a first place tie atop the KCAC. The Warriors started off down by three points, but then went on a 15 to zero run to pounce on Tabor early. The was back and fourth in the first half, but SC would take over in the second half.
The first half consisted tight basketball with each team struggling to maintain a lead. Trent Stutzman was on fire for Sterling in the first half, going three for five from the three point line. With about 10 seconds left in the first half, Zach Goodrich stole the ball and made a lay-up to give Sterling a 31-29 halftime lead.
In the second half the Warriors came out quick and went on a six to zero run. From that point forward, Sterling controlled the game. Adam Brown wowed the crowd with an acrobatic dunk in the second half, insuring that momentum stayed with the Warriors on their way to an 86-68 victory.
The leading scorer for the Warriors was Goodrich with 16 points followed by Zach Poole and Cody Brazelton with 15 points apiece. Also in double-figures were Stutzman with 12 and Raheem Odomes with 10.
With the victory, Sterling moves to 12-9, 8-3 overall. The Sterling College Warriors' next game will be against Bethany at the Gleason Center on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
