Lady Warriors Win Florida Road Trip Opener

Lake Whales, Fla. - The #10 Sterling College Lady Warriors opened the first of back to back games in Florida with a narrow 66-59 victory over Warner University on Friday night. Sterling's defense played a big role in the game, forcing Warner into 21 turnovers and allowing Sterling to overcome being out rebounded 36-41.
Three point shooting helped Sterling to a 32-26 halftime lead. Erica Herman, Jannica Schultze, Cassi Spliess, and Laura Patrick each hit one three in the first half for a total of 12 points from behind the arc. Britany Gasper had a big first half for Sterling, scoring eight points and pulling down five rebounds. Schultze and Patrick each added seven points in the first half.
In the second half, Warner was able to make up for 14 second half turnovers by sinking five three point baskets for 15 points. Sterling's three point shooting cooled off in the second half and the Lady Warriors were forced to rely on their defense to win the second half. Madison Lucas, Gasper, and Patrick each played a good second half. Lucas scored seven second half points, Gasper scored eight second half points, and Patrick scored nine second half points.
Gasper and Patrick led all scorers in the game with 16 points each. Also in double figures for Sterling was Schultze with 11 points. Erica Herman added nine points while Lucas scored seven points.
Ivana Soberal led Warner in scoring with 15 points. Candace Smith, Shawnelle Campbell, and Sammie Clark also scored in double figures. Smith had 13 points, Campbell had 11 points and Clark had 10 points.
