Lucas's Double-Double Leads Sterling Past Webber International
Babson Park, Fla. - Sterling College's women's basketball team completed the sweep on their two game road trip to Florida, defeating Webber International University 69-52 on Saturday night. Defense was the key again for Sterling in this ballgame, forcing Webber into 25 turnovers. Sterling turned those 25 turnovers into 26 points. The bench also played a big role for Sterling with the Lady Warrior bench outscoring Webber's bench 30-8.
The Lady Warriors jumped on Webber International quickly in the first half, going on a 9-0 run to start the game. That lead would get down to one point with five minutes left in the first half, but Sterling would never relinquish the lead. A late first half run capped off by a Madison Lucas bucket would allow SC to go into halftime leading by 12, 37-25. Laura Patrick and Lucas both had big first halves for Sterling. Patrick scored nine points, pulled down four rebounds, dished out three assists, and had a blocked shot. Lucas scored seven points and pulled down four rebounds.
