MEN'S BASKETBALL GOES 1-1 ON KCAC ROAD TRIP
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Men's basketball team split in their two games on the road last week. The Warriors lost to McPherson College 83-91 in 2 overtimes and followed up by beating Southwestern College 82-61.
In the first game in McPherson, Sterling came out strong in the first half scoring 30 points. Despite the offensive surge, the Warriors defense could not hold McPherson and trailed 30-36 at the half. The second half was the exact opposite for both teams as scoring at the end of regulation was all tied up at 66. During the first overtime both teams scored 12 points and continued to a second overtime period where McPherson's offense proved too much for the Warriors to handle. Senior Zach Goodrich led the team with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
Three days later Sterling traveled to Winfield to visit the Southwestern Moundbuilders. The Warriors had much less trouble with Southwestern as they built a 10 point lead at half and extended that lead to 21 points to run to a 82-61 final. Sterling's offense was led by a double-double from Senior Kenny McGrath with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Next, the Warriors play host to the Blue Jays of Tabor College on Thursday, January 27th. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 P.M.
