Kansas City, Kan. - Kenny McGrath and Trenton Stutzman were named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar Athletes. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Point Lookout, MO - The Sterling College Warriors battled and nearly beat the Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan University in a two day marathon that spanned Thursday night and Friday morning. In the overtime game, OWU's Sadiel Rojas single handedly lead the Eagles to victory scoring 42 points and pulling down 23 rebounds in the 81-82 loss for Sterling. Zach Goodrich led the Warriors in his final game for Sterling College, scoring 19 points and pulling down three rebounds to cap off a phenomenal career.
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Warriors will play Oklahoma Wesleyan University of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) in the opening round of the 20th Annual NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament. Oklahoma Wesleyan has a record of 27-4 and is currently ranked no. 7 in the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The game will take place on Thursday, March 10 in Point Lookout, Missouri on the campus of the College of the Ozarks at 9:15 pm. Wichita, Kan. - The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) released its All-Conference Awards during "Championship Monday" at Hartman Arena. Sterling College players and coaches won seven awards highlighted by Coach Dean Jaderston winning KCAC Coach of the Year and Zach Goodrich winning KCAC Player of the Year.
