Homecoming activities begin Oct. 18

Friday, October 5, 2012

Homecoming activities will begin on Thursday, Oct. 18, with the annual opening night of the Homecoming musical, “Godspell,” at 8 p.m. Special Homecoming activities, in addition to the beloved traditions, have been scheduled this year as part of the 125th anniversary celebration.

Friday will host the Alumni College, where alumni and friends of the College have a chance to attend classes and relive their time at SC. Find a list of classes available on the Sterling College website. Other Friday activities include class reunion meet and greets and class reunion dinners for the Golden Years of ’61 and earlier, ’62, ’67, the ’70s decade, ’82, and ’92.

Saturday’s events include a pancake breakfast, parade, Homecoming Hangout, campus tours, barbecue, football game against Ottawa University, Young Alumni Reunion, Student Government Association Reunion and alumni banquet.

A final event will take place on Sunday, with a tribute to Professor Emeriti Diane DeFranco-Kling and Gordon Kling. The celebration of the Klings’ legacy will take place in Culbertson Auditorium at 2 p.m. followed by a come-and-go reception in Cornerstone in the Student Union. If you are an alumni interested in participating in the tribute, contact the alumni office at 620-278-4228 or alumni@sterling.edu by Oct. 7.
