SC Homecoming court announced

The Sterling College Homecoming court has been named. Homecoming coronation ceremonies will take place Saturday, Oct. 19 at halftime of the football game against Ottawa University.

Candidates are selected by fellow classmates. They must have at least a 2.5 GPA, be in good standing with the College and must be a senior or a junior who plans to graduate in the spring.

Aundraya Garcia of Hutchinson, Kan., is a Christian ministries major with an emphasis in missions. While at Sterling College, she has participated in the student senate, Campus Activities Board, intramural sports and has joined mission trips to Indonesia and the Philippines. Garcia has also served as a dorm chaplain and resident assistant for Evans Hall. Garcia is the daughter of Jeff and Shivawn Garcia.

Mackenzie McGuire of Wichita, Kan., is majoring in art and design with concentrations in graphic design and photography. She has participated in praise band during all four years at Sterling College. She participates in intramurals, the Sterling Art League and was a resident assistant in Evans Hall her junior year. She also serves as a small group leader for Crossfire, the youth group at the CrossPoint Church in Sterling. McGuire is the daughter of Dewayne and Holly McGuire.

Kara Stineman of Salina, Kan., is an art and design major with concentrations in graphic design and illustration. While at Sterling College, Stineman has been involved in the Campus Activities Board for two years, intramurals and the Sterling Art League. She also served as a leader for Evans Hall Worship. Stineman is the daughter of Darrin and Kathy Stineman.

Eddie Adesodun of Mesquite, Texas, is majoring in art and design with a concentration in graphic design. While at Sterling College, he has played on the basketball team and participated in Bible studies. He is currently serving as a resident assistant for Douglas Men’s. Adesodun is the son of Edward and Kehinde Adesodun. 

Shiloh Duff of Scott City, Kan., is a theatre major. While at Sterling, he has been involved in many theatre productions, including playing Jesus in “Godspell” and Elwood P. Dowd in “Harvey.” Duff has also been involved in student-led films. He is the son of Richard and Susan Duff.

David Spencer of Lyndon, Kan., is majoring in biology. He has helped Dr. Jonathan Conard, assistant professor of biology, with deer surveys at Quivira Wildlife Refuge as part of research projects on tracking patterns of movement in deer. He has also participated in ultimate Frisbee tournaments with the Campbell Hall men and is in the Sterling Community Band. Spencer is the son of Brian and Angela Spencer.
