SC Introduces Fine Arts Hall of Fame During Homecoming 2009

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Next weekend is significant for Sterling College. Not only will the College inaugurate its eleventh president and celebrate its annual homecoming, it will also introduce the Sterling College Fine Arts Hall of Fame.
Because of the College's strong tradition in the arts, including theatre, music, art and communications, Sterling College alumni, led by SC alumnus Greg McGlynn, have established the Fine Arts Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding contributions to the Sterling College arts programs as well as the arts in general.
The Fine Arts Hall of Fame is based on the example of the Sterling College Athletic Hall of Fame which began in 1992. "The arts play such a big part of life at Sterling College that we felt it was only appropriate to recognize some of the people behind the programs as well as those who have benefited from them," McGlynn said.
Awards will be divided into three categories: 1. Alumni, those who have graduated from Sterling and participated in the arts programs; 2. Mentor, Sterling faculty who have led students; and 3. Patron, those who have supported the Sterling arts programs in various ways. Awards will be decided through a nomination and decision process involving a number of Sterling alumni. The first six Fine Arts Hall of Fame members will be announced at this year's Homecoming Alumni Banquet.
