Tuesday, September 30, 2014

The official enrollment numbers are in, and Sterling College has reported a 10 percent increase in enrollment over the last two years. With a total head count of 718, Sterling College’s enrollment displaces last year’s count as the third highest in school history and trails second place by only four students.

“The increased enrollment cannot be traced to one specific added program or push from admissions, but instead represents an overall effort by our admissions staff, faculty, coaches and directors. The College has pulled together and put forth a team effort in recruiting, and it is nice to see the results of working together,” said Scott Rich, president.

Sterling College has reported a growth in first-time freshman for the fourth year in a row. The group totals 188 students and brings with them another year of increased average ACT scores. Sterling College Online also increased its enrollment count for the third year in a row.

Sterling College reported an increase in the diversity of its student body. Over 25 percent of the student body claims to be a minority. The total number of international, black, Hispanic, Native American and Asian/Pacific Islander students grew by about four percent. The international students on campus this year represent five foreign countries – Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Panama and Brazil.

Kansas brings in the highest number of students from the country with 356. The other highest recruiting states – California, Texas, Colorado and Arizona – provide 262 students.
