Warriors Top Southwestern in Volleyball

Sterling, Kan. - On Tuesday night at the Gleason Center, the Lady Warrior Volleyball Team earned their first Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Lady Warriors beat the Moundbuilders from Southwestern College in four sets.

Sterling opened the match with a first set victory, and then beat Southwestern again in the second set. Southwestern was able to take the third set to avoid ending the match, but Sterling attacked Southwestern again in the fourth set for the victory. Final set scores were 25-15, 25-12, 16-25, and 25-18.

Sara Steria led the Warriors in kills with 11. Adriana Gonzalez continues to have a good season as setter for the Warriors as she had 30 assists in the match. Gelisa Thornton patrolled the net well for the Warriors, accumulating 7 blocks in the match.

With the win, the Warriors move to 4-7 on the season and 1-2 in the KCAC. On September 18th, the Warriors will travel to McPherson College to take on the Bulldogs in a KCAC match-up.
