Woods and Friess lead Warriors over Saint Mary and Friends University
The Warrior Basketball team picked up two important wins this past week and remain tied for first in KCAC play. Sterling won there first game of the week beating the University of Saint Mary 60-43. Sterling then beat Friends University 69-56.
On Thursday, Sterling struggled from the field in the first half shooting 7 for 30 from the field for 23.3% in the first half. Sterling rallied back in the second half to out score the Spires by sixteen and shot 57% from the field.
Sterling had three players in double figures, Jammal Mondaine and Johnathan Woods had thirteen and Shane Stover had eleven.
On Saturday, the Warriors first half shooting woes continued shooting 37% from the field. But like Thursday the Warriors came out in the second half on fire. The Warriors shot a blistering 70% from the field and were led by Chad Friess's career high 24 points.
Freshman Zach Goodrich and Cody Brazelton chipped in twelve and eleven points to help lead the Warrior offense.
Sterling (14-8, 9-3) are currently tied for first place in the KCAC with Kansas Wesleyan University. The Warriors will travel to Ottawa University on Thursday and then to Southwestern on Saturday.
