Annual Fund
What makes Sterling College so special? In general, the people at SC make this such a memorable place. SC employees work with a calling to serve, and that calling has had an impact on countless people. Below are some of the memories about SC and its people and how their legacies of sterling service has impacted those around them, which inspires them to support Sterling College through the annual fund.
The annual fund supports every aspect of Sterling College. From scholarships for students in need to groundskeeping; your support is greatly appreciated.
2005 - 2006 Annual Fund Report
In the midst of a presidential administrational change and several changes within the Advancement department, the Annual Fund saw almost a 38% increase from the previous year. In fiscal year 2005-2006 (July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006) the total amount raised for the Annual Fund was $1,650,551.46. This support was given generously by alumni, friends, churches, businesses, and organizations who believe is and understand the importance of Christ-centered higher education.
We wish to express our deepest thanks to all who helped support Sterling College during the '05-'06 fiscal year! We also ask that you will continue to lift Sterling College up in your prayers and remember us with your God given resources as we continue to provide our students with an academically demanding and enthusiastically Christian educational experience.

Enclosed, please find a check as payment to the Sterling Teacher Scholarship Fund. My husband, Frank, a United Presbyterian minister, was also in the educational program at Sterling. Both of us were students of Eunice McGill. Mrs. McGill was a wonderful, unforgettable teacher whom we both loved. I benefited from the scholarship fund and would not have been able to attend Sterling without its help. My best wishes to you as you work to obtain these funds.

Writing about the value of Miss Hays' work in the English Dept.: ...why do tax forms have to be so confusing? Obviously the writers never had Miss Hays for a writing course. She could red-pencil a paper so thoroughly to keep one on track. Bless her heart. I think she used a lot of red pencils on me but I've always been thankful for her help and the things she taught me.

Professors like Dr. Charles Atwater provided stimulating, and challenging courses - adding to the positive experience and good education I received at S.C. Prof. Simpson was an excellent lecturer. His tests were horrendous but you really studied and learned!

Sterling is where I became a Christian. It wasn't so much what people said that made the difference for me...it was how they "walked their talk." Professors such as Bob Thompson, Fran Calderwood, Bob Gordon, Prof. Taylor, Dr. Atwater and Carol Jean Brownlee were often times "Jesus with skin on" for me---they had no idea that I was "watching"--I'm so grateful for their living testimonies.

Robert Thompson - An alumnus of Sterling College, Bob taught the math courses with clarity, patience and a ready smile. Always one to offer his assistance, he was asked to drive the college bus on many occasions. One never-to-be-forgotten occasion occurred when they encountered a totally blocked road on a high mountain pass. Bob hitched the bus back and forth on that mountian road until he got it headed back in the opposite direction.

Clair Gleason - We remember Clair as a devout Christian, a devoted family man, and one dedicated to hard work. In the beginning he was athletic director and coach of all sports, working tirelessly to enhance athletics at Sterling College and to bring out the best in his athletes. His great sense of humor made him a joy to be around.
