Degree Programs
The music department provides curricula that prepares students for a variety of career options and graduate studies.
Two major degree tracks and a minor are offered: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Music Education, as well as the Music minor. A Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music will be available beginning Fall 2007 and Piano Pedagogy in the Fall of 2008.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music
The Bachelor of Arts degree prepares the student for several career options and provides a solid foundation for graduate study.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Music Education
The Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education prepares the student to teach Elementary and/or Secondary Music (instrumental and vocal).
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sacred Music
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Sacred Music prepares the student for ministry in the local church. Courses are offered in conjunction with the Religion and Philosophy department and focus on the use of music and liturgy within the context of a variety of worship styles.
Minor in Music
The music minor allows students majoring in other fields to study the theoretical, historical, and performing aspects of music. Musical studies, when combined with another major, can be used in creative ways to enhance careers, lives, and communities.
