Brett is originally from Rockwall, Tex. He went to Bethel College in 2005 and was a four year starter on their football team, being named the all conference quarterback three times. He played on two KCAC conference championship teams (2006, 2007) and graduated in 2009. After Bethel, he attended Wichita State University from 2009-2012 earning his masters degree in sports management. He also served as assistant football coach (working with quarterbacks and receivers) and an admissions counselor at Bethel from 2009-2012 before moving to Sterling in August 2012 as an assistant football coach (quarterbacks). He married his wife Danica in July 2012 and they now live in Hutchinson.
