Christian graduated from Sterling College in 2002, at which point he and his wife Stacy moved to Kansas City for graduate school. In addition to earning a Masters of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Christian had the opportunity to work at two different churches in the Kansas City area.
In 2006, his ministry path shifted as he took a position coordinating a leadership development program for urban middle school students at a para-church ministry. Christian refers to this as the place where "idealism met reality" as he worked day-to-day in the most impoverished and violent neighborhood in Kansas City. It was a challenging experience, but also one where his faith in God was strengthened and his views on justice were shaped.
As the Chaplain, Christian will be working to use various venues and platforms to guide the campus community through meaningful discussions regarding faith. He will also provide leadership to the Resident Directors, as well as the student leaders on campus. He looks to pull from both his educational training as well as his diverse ministry experiences to help leaders on campus grow in both their capacities to lead and serve
Christian and Stacy love being a part of the Sterling community, as it is a great place to raise their children, Hana, Zachary, and Elliana.
