Irene Barkman

Irene Barkman is a licensed Certified Public Accountant with over thirty years of experience in public accounting.  The blend of practical experience with her academic pursuits presents a unique learning opportunity for the students of Sterling College. 

Prior to joining Sterling College, Irene was part-owner of a CPA firm located in Hutchinson, Kansas.  At the firm, her responsibilities focused on audits of financial statements for governmental entities and nonprofit entities, business accounting, and preparation of income tax returns for individuals and corporate entities.

Irene received her Masters Degree from Wichita State University in 2011 in Accountancy with an emphasis in Taxation.  Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Kansas with a double major of Accounting and Business Administration.  In addition, Irene maintains her license to practice as a CPA in the State of Kansas by obtaining annual continuing education.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Irene and her husband Rick reside in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She spends her free time enjoying her adult son, home, church, and sailing a Sunfish boat.
