Stutzman Scores 21 as Sterling Defeats Graceland
Hillsboro, Kan. - Sterling College Warrior junior guard Trent Stutzman went five for eight from the three point line and scored 21 points in Sterling's 75-68 victory over Graceland University to close out the 2010 calendar year. The Warriors used tough defense to hold Graceland University to 36.9% shooting from the field and 27.3% shooting from behind the three point line allowing SC to overcome 15 turnovers and being outrebounded 33-36.
Stutzman led all scorers with his 21 points and added two rebounds and two assists. Senior guard Zach Goodrich also scored in double figures with 17 points, pulled down six rebounds, and dished out seven assists. Cody Brazelton used four for five shooting from the field to score 10 points. Brazelton also pulled down three rebounds in the game.
Four Graceland players scored in double figures in the game, but the balanced Sterling attack would overcome the Graceland attack. Raheem Odomes scored nine points for SC, Kenny McGrath scored eight and Adam Brown scored seven.
With the win, Sterling moves to 5-8 on the season and is 2-2 in the KCAC. Sterling will play Culver-Stockton College at 3:00 pm on Saturday. KCAC play resumes on Thursday when Friends University travels to Sterling to take on the Warriors at 8:00 pm.
