Hillsboro, Kan. - The Sterling College Lady Warriors basketball team was without three key players against Central Methodist College in their final game of the 2010 calendar year. Megan Patrick, Candace Ewert, and Carley Chambers all missed the game due to injuries, but Sterling still prevailed over Central Methodist 71-41. Strong senior leadership continues to be an asset for the Lady Warriors and played a big role in the 30 point blowout at the Tabor Classic.
Lindsborg, Kan. - Britany Gasper and the 12th ranked Sterling College Lady Warriors traveled to Lindsborg, Kansas on Thursday night to play the Bethany College Swedes and defeated the Swedes 67-46 in a costly game for the Lady Warriors. The game became costly for Sterling when Megan Patrick went down early in the second half with a knee injury. It is still not known how long the injury will keep Patrick on the sideline. Gasper stepped up for SC in the absence of Patrick, scoring 14 points and pulling down seven rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass, to help Sterling pull away from Bethany and improve to 3-0 in the KCAC.
Sterling, Kan. - The NAIA has released its first regular season NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll for the 2010-2011 Season. Sterling College is ranked in the poll at number 12, falling two spots from the preseason poll.
SC has started 5-1 this year with their only loss coming on the road to 22nd ranked Concordia University out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
