Tom was born in Hutchinson, Kansas and was raised on his family farm (15 miles north of Lyons). This farm has been in Tom's family for over 100 years and his daughter and her husband and family still live there and continue the family farming operation. Tom has been teaching at Sterling for 7 years and thoroughly enjoy the interaction with students concerning the teaching of theology and philosophy. His wife, Bev, have three children together. His son, Matt, lives in Nashville, TN and is a song writer and producer. His daughter, Erin, lives on the family farm and also has three children and his daughter, Emily, lives in Fullerton, CA and is married and has two daughters.
A native of West Virginia raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Roy worked in the construction industry for a number of years before pursuing an academic career. In addition, Roy has served in pastoral ministry in Arkansas and Texas. Roy served as interim pastor for three years at Little River Baptist Church, one of Texas’ historic churches, founded in 1849. Roy has taught at Baylor University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Jacob teaches Bible and theology at Sterling. Born in Idaho and raised in Iowa, he has since attended school in Tennessee, Kentucky and Wisconsin. He has served as a youth pastor in Baptist churches and was ordained in 2007. While studying theological ethics at Marquette, he published articles and book reviews on biblical interpretation, theology and ethics. Jacob is excited to help students connect the Bible and theology to church and life.
