Dean Jaderston became Sterling College's men's basketball career leader in victories on Thursday night in Wichita, Kan. The Warriors delivered victory number 108 to Jaderston with an 87-75 win over Friends University after trailing by five points at halftime. Jaderston surpasses Jim Woudstra, who had a Sterling record of 107-192. Currently, Jaderston is 108-87 at Sterling and 158-203 as a head coach.
Wichita, Kan. - The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has changed its 2010-11 Men's and Women's Basketball postseason format and moved the Championship finals to Hartman Arena, in Park City, Kansas.
For the first time, the KCAC is moving both the Men's and Women's Basketball Championship to a neutral site. ‘KCAC Hoops at Hartman Arena' will feature both games on February 28, 2011, with the men's final at 6:00 PM and the women's fin al at 8:00 PM.
Sterling, Kan. - In the Quarterfinal Round of the 2011 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Championship, the Sterling College Warriors easily defeated Bethel College 74-57. Sterling outscored Bethel 22-14 on points off of turnovers and 20-6 on second chance points on their way to their 19th victory of the season.
North Newton, Kan. - The Sterling College Warrior Men's Basketball team is the 2010-2011 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Regular Season Champions and will represent the KCAC at the 2011 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament in Branson, Missouri. Sterling wrapped up the title by defeating Bethel College on Thursday night 63-49. SC's win combined with Tabor College's loss to Friends University has given the Warriors a two game lead in the KCAC standings with one game to play.
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Warrior men's basketball team celebrated their 2010-2011 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Regular Season Championship on Senior Night in the Gleason Center on Saturday by defeating the McPherson College Bulldogs 71-67. Sterling came away with the victory despite being rebounded 36-53. The Warriors used 10 three point baskets to offset the rebound deficit on their way to the victory.
Sterling, Kan. - Zach Goodrich may have only scored five points against the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes, but two of those five points came in the most clutch of situations as the Sterling College Warriors were victorious on Thursday night in the Gleason Center. With 2.6 seconds left in a 72-72 tie ball game, Goodrich pulled up and hit a two point jump shot to give Sterling a much needed 74-72 victory.
Wichita, Kan. - In the KCAC, Wichita is always a difficult place to win on the road. That statement proved true on Saturday night as the Sterling College Warriors lost to the Friends University Falcons by a score of 67-76. Three point baskets and free throws were the determining factors in the game as Friends had a 12 point advantage from behind the three point arc and a seven point advantage from the foul line.
Leavenworth, Kan. - KCAC leading scorer Brandon Coleman of the University of Saint Mary Spires went off for 27 points against the Sterling College Warriors on Thursday night, but received no help from his teammates as the balanced Sterling attack defeated USM 83-71.
Sterling, Kan.- The Gleason Center was rockin' as the Sterling College Warriors thumped the Tabor College Bluejays 86-68 in a game that moved Sterling into a first place tie atop the KCAC. The Warriors started off down by three points, but then went on a 15 to zero run to pounce on Tabor early. The was back and fourth in the first half, but SC would take over in the second half.
Sterling, Kan. - The Sterling College Men's basketball team split in their two games on the road last week. The Warriors lost to McPherson College 83-91 in 2 overtimes and followed up by beating Southwestern College 82-61.
