Teryn Irvin ’12, a local alumna of Sterling College, joined the Office of Institutional Advancement and External Relations as the new manager of alumni and marketing in September 2014. This newly created role on campus serves both the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Office of Marketing and Communications, striving to build a strong connection between these two important functions of the College.
She will play a key role in creating innovative publications and marketing that advances Sterling College’s mission and enhances its image and visibility to internal and external target markets. She will coordinate alumni gatherings and Homecoming, work closely with the Alumni and Parent Councils, manage special events, and will provide leadership to the continual improvement of marketing and communication initiatives for the College.
As a student at SC, Teryn was a member of choir and Highland Singers and graduated with a B.A. in communications. While attending college, she worked at a mental health center serving adolescents with severe mental illness. Upon graduation, she served as the coordinator of prevention, education and outreach at the mental health center where she was in charge of internal and external communication strategies. She planned community events, wrote grants and served as the agency spokesperson.
She is married to Jaron Irvin ’12, and they have one boy, Izaiah and one “furry sister”, Hazel.
