Run (or Walk) for China: Sweet and Sour 5K Run

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

The Sweet and Sour 5K Run on April 17 may not get its participants any closer to the Great Wall, but it will help Sterling College’s China team get there. Proceeds from the race will go to support the China team’s trip to Beijing from May 24 to June 7.

The race will take place on Saturday, April 17, and is open to all. Registration forms are due by April 1 and are available at the Sterling College Student Life office and at the Dillons store in Sterling. The entry fee for the 5K is $20. Check-in for the race will begin at 9:15 a.m. at Sterling College's Gleason Center, and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female participants.

The purpose of the race is to raise both awareness and funds for the trip. While in China the team will focus on several different projects, including working at an orphanage with special needs children, teaching and practicing English with college students, and delivering food and other necessities to areas of poverty around the city.
