Sterling Softball looks for consistency
The Sterling College softball team looks to get to the .500 mark in KCAC play Wednesday as they travel to Bethany College. The Lady Warriors are currently ranked #7 in the NAIA Region IV poll and sixth the KCAC standings.
Sterling (13-12, 1-3) have been up and down to start the season, the Lady Warriors saw wins against Park College, Grandview College and Ottawa as they advanced to the championship game of the Mid America Nazarene Tournament before losing to Bethel (IN) 5-0. Bethel is currently ranked #13 in the country at 17-1.
The Lady Warriors went 4-2 in their own tournament held in Sterling March 14th and 15th earning victories against Graceland, Central Christian, McPherson and Tabor College.
In KCAC action the Lady Warriors lost their opener to McPherson College 3-12 and 3-8 to start off KCAC play. Sterling hosted Southwestern College this past Saturday and earned their first conference win of the season off a two run homer from junior Latasha Pearl to win the game 6-5. In the second game, the Lady Warriors could not repeat the effort as they fell 2-3 to the Moundbuilders.
Sterling will face Bethany College (16-7, 5-1) on Wednesday in Lindsborg, Kansas. The first game of the double-header is set to start at 5:00 PM. The Swedes are currently #3 in the NAIA Region IV.
