Sterling College is a four year, Christ-centered college located in Sterling, Kansas with a mission to develop creative and thoughtful leaders who understand a maturing Christian faith. This year, Sterling College is opening its Summer Term session courses to high school students interested in obtaining a few college credits over the summer. By enrolling at Sterling College, students not only begin preparing themselves for being a full-time college student, but also give themselves a chance to take some general education courses lightening their load when they do go to college and thus, building a firm foundation of college courses prior to even becoming a college student. High school students may only enroll in 100 level courses. Any 300 level courses that are offered are intended for current college students only.

Course Descriptions
BI100 - Principles of Biology (non-lab) - 3 credits
Students will be introduced to scientific thought and exploration. Fundamental principles and concepts of biology will be addressed from the perspective of the universal need all organisms share to meet their physical and biochemical requirements. Understanding the shared as well as different approaches to these requirements allows us to categorize organisms and to better understand our own biology.
BU326 - Marketing - 3 credits
Studies the four classic functions of the marketing mix process and their application – including an analysis of the marketing mix, target market, segmentation, market research, product/service development, packaging, pricing, advertising, media and promotion.
CT365 - Gendered/Intercultural Communication - 3 credits
An examination of the inextricable link between communication, gender and culture. Expectations regarding gender, sex and culture impact our choice of language and our construction of reality as well as the inverse. Discover how language conveys specific sexual and/or cultural messages, how men and women chose to use language and how we perceive or expect differences between genders and cultures.
ES120 - Foundations of Exercise Science - 2 credits
This course provides an introduction to the profession including the history and philosophy of physical education. Students are introduced to the areas of academic focus, which provide the content of the profession. Current trends, career options, and the relevance of Christian commitment to the profession are discussed.
HI101 - History of World Civilization I - 3 credits
The objective of this course is to survey the history of cultures from the Stone Age to early modern times. Some cultures considered are Cro-Magnon, Sumerian, Assyrian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Indian, Chinese, Incan, Aztec, Islamic, Christian, Hebrew, Western Medieval, and Renaissance. An interdisciplinary approach will be used.
LL151 - Introduction to Literature - 3 credits
Samples a variety of fiction, drama, and poetry concerned with themes of recurring interest in the world‘s literature. Considers how literature should be read and tries various approaches to reading and writing about literature.
MA110 - College Algebra - 3 credits
This course is a detailed study of functions and their graphs. Topics covered include linear and quadratic equations, polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices and determinants. Not open to students who have passed MA150 with a C- or better. Prerequisite: ACT math score of at least 21 or satisfactory score in math placement test.
TM102 - Introduction to the Old Testament - 3 credits
This course examines the major themes of the Hebrew and Aramaic Scriptures through the study of selected passages, ranging from Genesis to Malachi. It provides an overview of the respective covenants of the Old Testament and its different genres.
TM103 - Introduction to the New Testament - 3 credits
This course examines the major themes of the New Testament through the study of selected passages, ranging from Matthew to Revelation. It explores the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the church‘s establishment, growth, and contemporary challenges.
