Monday, August 25, 2014

Social Media has been buzzing with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The Challenge has helped raise awareness and financial support of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease or ALS.

Athletic Director Gary Kempf and Head Football Coach Andy Lambert were both challenged to the Ice Bucket Challenge and in Warrior style, readily accepted. They completed the challenge with support from the Warrior Football team and the Sterling Fire Department. Coach Lambert challenged a few Sterling locals and alumni including Nicolle Galyon Clawson and SC Alum Windell Middlebrooks.

As of Friday, Aug. 22, the ALS Association has received $53.3. million in donations compared to $2.2 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to Aug. 21). These donations have come from existing donors and 1.1 million new donors.
