Kimberly Kuo, senior vice president for public affairs at Coca-Cola Consolidated, will be the speaker for the 2016 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 14, at 9:45 a.m. on East Cooper Lawn on the Sterling College campus. The event is open to the public.

Kuo, Sterling native and granddaughter of former Sterling College president William McCreery, has 22 years of marketing and communications experience at the highest levels of politics, government, corporations and technology startups. She was a top press aide for Senate Majority Leader and then presidential candidate Bob Dole, and vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp. Kuo was also the primary spokesperson for Internet giant AOL Inc. before she took on investor relations and marketing responsibilities at multiple innovative technology startups.

After acting as the communications lead for CTIA-The Wireless Association in Washington, D.C., she launched its advocacy initiative, MyWireless.org. In less than four years, the new organization was the third largest advocacy group in the country. As executive vice president of marketing of the world’s largest book and entertainment distributor, Baker & Taylor, Kuo rebranded the company and introduced many new programs.

Kuo graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and studied comparative government as a Rotary Scholar at the London School of Economics.

An accomplished musician and songwriter, Kuo also writes nonfiction, editorials, poetry and children’s fiction and was recently featured in Christianity Today. Her greatest joy is adventuring with her two children, Olivia and Aidan.
