Men's Basketball to Open Season Against K-State-Salina

Monday, November 1, 2010

Sterling, Kan. - On Tuesday night in the Gleason Center, the Sterling College Warriors Men's Basketball team will open up the 2010-2011 basketball season with an exhibition game against Kansas State University - Salina at 7:00 pm. Sterling will look for their first win in a season in which the KCAC coaches picked the Warriors to finish second in the KCAC.

SC will have to overcome a big early season challenge in the loss of senior leader Zach Goodrich. Goodrich sustained an injury during practice and will be out at least through November and early December. The loss of Goodrich means that someone else from the Warrior roster will have to step up to replace the two time All-KCAC guard and candidate for KCAC Player of the Year.

Sterling has a tough non-conference schedule that will prepare them for KCAC play. The Warriors only have four home games during the non-conference schedule and will travel to Fort Hays State University to play the NCAA Division II squad on November 27th.

KCAC play will begin on December 2nd when SC plays Southwestern College at home. Before the holiday break, Sterling will play Southwestern, Tabor College, Bethany College, and the University of Saint Mary in conference play. The KCAC Tournament will start with the Play-in Round on February 21st and conclude with the Championship Game on February 28th. The winners of the KCAC Regular Season and KCAC Tournament will represent the conference at the NAIA National Tournament that begins on March 9th in Branson, Missouri.
