Sterling College announces commencement speaker

The Rev. Dr. Stan Van Den Berg, senior pastor of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, will be the speaker for the 2019 Sterling College Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 11, at 9:45 a.m. on East Cooper Lawn on the Sterling College campus. The event is open to the public.
Van Den Berg endeavors to lead Eastminster to become a missional and transformative force in the city of Wichita and many parts of the world. He has been serving in his current role at Eastminster in Wichita, Kan., since 2014. Previously he served Covenant Presbyterian Church in Orange, Calif., for 28 years, 18 years as senior pastor.
“We have hired several graduates of Sterling College at Eastminster. We are pleased with the product that comes out of the College. I also appreciate the shared history, theology, and missional focus that Sterling shares with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church,” said Van Den Berg.
Van Den Berg holds a B.S. in Geology from California State University at Fullerton and a master of divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He also holds a doctor of ministry degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Nancy, have four children, Joshua, James, Hannah and Gabrielle.
