Sterling College announces Great Plains Annual Photography Competition
Sterling College has announced that it will hold the first Great Plains Annual Photography Competition, a juried show for high school students, in April. All high school students may submit pieces to the photography competition, which offers scholarships and prizes for the winning photographs. The deadline for submissions has been extended to April 29.
“Sterling College Art and Design is always looking for ways to encourage young artists to create without fear, and photography is such a great, flexible medium that really lends itself to creating with confidence. We are excited to be hosting the first Great Plains Annual Photography Competition because this is a great chance for regional high school students to submit work into a low-cost juried show and have the opportunity to be recognized for the strong photography work they are generating. We are looking forward to adjudicating the wide variety of pieces these students have produced,” said Daniel Swartz, assistant professor of art and design.
The photography competition will feature seven categories: landscape, portrait, interiors, still-life, non-objective, fine art and alternative. To submit photos or for more information on the Great Plains Annual Photography Competition, visit www.sterling.edu/photo-contest.
