Sterling College to host Darin Beck as Criminal Justice Keynote Speaker
The Sterling College Criminal Justice program will host Darin Beck, vice provost of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC), for its keynote lecture on Tuesday, November 18. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall. The public is invited to attend this free event.
“We are honored to welcome Darin Beck to Sterling College. His decades of leadership, both in the military and in law enforcement education, make him an incredible example for our students who aspire to serve their communities with excellence and integrity,” said Dr. Mark Tremaine, associate professor of criminal justice.
Beck was appointed Vice Provost of KLETC in 2024, following six years as Executive Director, continuing a distinguished career dedicated to strengthening law enforcement training across Kansas. He first joined KLETC in 1999 as Legal Counsel for the University of Kansas.
A retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, Beck’s career reflects the values of duty, honor, and service. His professional journey spans military command, public service as an Assistant City Attorney for Wichita, and education as a mathematics teacher. He is also a graduate of the FBI’s Central States Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.
Beck holds bachelor’s degrees in marketing and mathematics from Wichita State University, a master’s degree in education from Newman University, and a Juris Doctorate from Baylor University.
The criminal justice program at Sterling College regularly hosts notable figures in the field, including Derek Schmidt, Kansas attorney general; Stephen McAllister, U.S. District attorney for the District of Kansas; and Caleb Stegall, Kansas Supreme Court justice.
