Sterling College is pleased to announce the grand dedication and official launch of the C.S. Lewis Center on Monday, September 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mabee Library. The evening will feature a special Service of Dedication and keynote lecture from renowned Lewis scholar Dr. Charlie W. Starr. After the keynote will be a discussion in response between our guest Lewis scholars led by respondent Dr. Joe Ricke, and a time of questions and answers with the guest Lewis scholars.

The event is open to the public and will be followed by a time for fellowship and browsing in the C.S. Lewis Center, located within the library.

“We are so excited to gather together and dedicate the Sterling College C.S. Lewis Center and are thrilled to be welcoming world-renowned Lewis scholars including Dr. Starr and Dr. Ricke, as well as local Lewis champions, Clive’s, new attendees of our monthly reading group, and would love to welcome you, too. Lewis reminded us in his sermon ‘The Weight of Glory’ there are ‘no ordinary people,’ I would love to welcome your most extra-ordinary self to our dedication,” said Dr. Sarah Waters, director of the C.S. Lewis Center.

The C.S. Lewis Center at Sterling College is designed to encourage thoughtful engagement with the Christian faith through literature, reason, and imagination. Drawing upon the intellectual and spiritual legacy of C.S. Lewis, the Center aims to serve both the campus and broader community by fostering dialogue, learning, and discipleship rooted in biblical truth and the liberal arts tradition.

Dr. Charlie Starr, professor of English and humanities at Great Lakes Christian College and a respected voice in Lewis studies, will present the keynote lecture during the dedication service. Starr has written extensively on Lewis's works, especially focusing on Lewis's handwriting, manuscripts, and use of imagination. His scholarship offers fresh insight into the writings and faith of one of the 20th century’s most enduring Christian thinkers.

In addition to the evening program, other events during the week include a Lewis Workshop open to the public and campus community, a lunchtime discussion with visiting scholars, and a themed event at Clive’s Coffee Shop.
