Sterling College named to Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities list

Friday, September 11, 2015

Sterling College was named by Christian Universities Online as one of the 50 Most Affordable Christian Colleges and Universities for 2015-16. This is Sterling’s second year on the list, making a jump of 11 places to 18th. The list is based on net price tuition data for schools accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, or the Association of Christian Schools International.

“To be named one of the most affordable Christian colleges and universities is an honor that reflects generous donors that support our institution and fiscally responsible decisions by Sterling College leadership and employees. We have known for a long time that we give our students high value for their dollar and this award only reinforces that knowledge. A quality, liberal arts education continues to be one of the best ways a young person can invest in their future and we are proud to be a part of that,” said Scott Rich, president.

Christian Universities Online states on their website that the ranking uses “publicly available ‘net price’ tuition data.” According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average net price is calculated by “subtracting the average amount of federal, state/local government, or institutional grant or scholarship aid from the total cost of attendance. Total cost of attendance is the sum of published tuition and required fees, books and supplies, and the weighted average for room and board and other expenses.”

Christian Universities Online is an independent online resource for prospective students and their families researching Christian higher education.
