Sterling College has announced Katy Nininger ’13 as director of alumni relations. Nininger began her responsibilities in the role on July 1.

“Katy’s love for Sterling College and her heart for serving others make her an excellent fit for this role. As an alumna, she understands the lifelong impact of a Sterling education and will be a tremendous blessing to our alumni and the entire Sterling College family,” said David Earle ’88, vice president for advancement and alumni relations.

In her new role, Nininger will oversee alumni engagement efforts, coordinate alumni events and reunions, steward relationships with alumni, work with the Alumni Council, and assist with planning and facilitating Homecoming.

Nininger graduated from Sterling College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in biology after four years as a member of the Lady Warriors basketball team. She later earned a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Colorado Christian University.

“I have the privilege of serving as director of alumni relations, where I seek to foster meaningful connections with alumni while advancing the mission of Sterling College. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Sterling College, its alumni, and ultimately Christ through this role,” said Nininger.

Nininger spent 12 years serving in Christian education as a teacher, coach, and administrator before returning to Sterling College in 2025 as associate librarian in Mabee Library. Raised on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona as the daughter of missionary teachers, she now looks forward to serving her alma mater in this new capacity.
