Sterling College remembers Jabara as friend to business, campus

Sterling College President Scott Rich made a statement remembering the life of Fran Jabara after his passing over the weekend. Jabara, a Wichita businessman, professor and entrepreneur, died at the age of 90.

“Sterling College and all of south-central Kansas have much to be grateful to Fran Jabara and the legacy he left to our area. Fran was passionate about business and entrepreneurship and he did much to encourage its growth throughout the schools that he gave of his time. You would never know just how busy he was because he always made time to listen to his students and anyone that needed wisdom and advice,” said Scott Rich, president.

Jabara was a renowned educator and entrepreneur who began visiting Sterling College campus in the 1980s to speak to business classes and clubs. Jabara, through the Fran Jabara Family Foundation, established the Fran Jabara Leadership Award in 2002. This award, presented at Sterling College’s commencement each year, is given to two students who exemplify outstanding academic achievement, leadership skills and involvement, and portray an enthusiastically Christian faith.
